The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for conducting research that investigates the mechanisms of radiation-induced coagulopathy and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) across mammalian species. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team integrating cellular models, small animal studies, and advanced molecular techniques to uncover the role of endothelial dysfunction, platelet activation, and inflammatory signaling in radiosensitivity differences. The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for designing and executing in vitro and in vivo experiments, performing coagulation and inflammation assays, analyzing molecular pathways, and contributing to manuscript preparation and presentations; assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite

Required Education
- Appropriate PhD in a related field
- Excellent verbal and written skills.

- Ph.D. in Radiation Biology, Hematology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
- Experience with cell culture, coagulation assays, and molecular biology techniques (qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry)
- Previous work with small animal models (mice, rats) and willingness to conduct in vivo studies
- Expertise in histology, immunohistochemistry, and RNA sequencing analysis
- Ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment
- Strong data analysis skills (e.g., R, Python, GraphPad Prism)
- Research: Under general supervision, is responsible for conducting research into their field of expertise. Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite. Analyzes research data and summarizes results. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. Assist in the development of grant proposals and reports. Contribute to manuscript preparation and submission for peer-reviewed journals.
- Lab-Specific Research: Cell Culture & In Vitro Studies: Maintain and culture endothelial cells, platelets, and PBMCs, and conduct radiation exposure experiments (1–5 Gy X-ray doses). Coagulation & Inflammatory Assays: Perform Tissue Factor ELISA, Thromboelastometry (TEG), platelet aggregometry, and measure IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-1β using ELISA and flow cytometry. Microscopy & Imaging: Utilize confocal microscopy to visualize endothelial damage, fibrin deposition, and platelet interactions. Animal Studies & Radiation Exposure: Assist in radiation exposure experiments in mice and rats (LD50 thresholds) and conduct blood coagulation measurements (platelet counts, TEG, D-dimer analysis). Histopathology & Tissue Analysis: Perform immunohistochemistry and histological assessments to evaluate endothelial damage, fibrin deposition, and systemic effects. Data Analysis & Bioinformatics: Analyze experimental results using ANOVA, regression models, and RNA sequencing to identify molecular pathways related to coagulation and endothelial dysfunction. Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed research records, lab notes, and experimental protocols for reproducibility and publications.
- Mentoring: May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project. Provide guidance on data analysis and laboratory best practices. Support students in manuscript preparation and conference presentations.
- Presentations: Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented to small and/or large groups. Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
