Are you passionate about empowering adult learners and making a difference in your community? We’re looking for a dynamic Professional Development Center Specialist to join our team and support local adult education and literacy providers across Texas!
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of professional development, providing essential support and assistance to educators funded by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). As part of the state-wide PD Center project at TCALL, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of adult education, ensuring that providers have the tools and resources they need to succeed.
What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience
Cover Letter/Resume: A cover letter and resume will assist us in our review of your application materials
Schedule: This position may require up to 25% or more travel and may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends
*Grant Funded: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract - therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Reading, English as a Second Language, Training, or related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience
Four years professional experience in the field of Adult Education and Literacy, including three or more years of advanced experience in the design and delivery of Adult Education and Literacy Professional Development as well as some actual AEL teaching experience (Adult Education and Literacy is defined as adult basic education, adult secondary education, or adult ESL, not including postsecondary education)
Preferred Qualifications
Eight or more years of relevant professional experience in AEL as defined, including recent experience (within the past 8 years) in local AEL program administration, which may include data reporting in TEAMS management information system required of TWC funded providers
Experience training for TRAIN PD at TCALL since June 2014
Experience advising AEL programs with professional development plans for data-driven program improvement
Training experience must include development or training delivery experience in at least two training topics for the Adult Education and Literacy, developmental education, or career-technical education audience.
Master’s Degree in Adult Education, Reading, English as a Second Language, Training, or related field
Texas Adult Education Teacher or Administrator Credential
Other educational certifications such as ESL, Special Education, Reading Specialist
Responsibilities
Professional Development Consultation:
Provides ongoing PD consultation to local AEL programs as assigned, including data-driven PD consultation, recommendations for local PD Continuous Improvement Plans, and concentrated support to programs with special needs in consultation with TWC Program Support staff
Assists in identifying training needs of local providers. Provides a variety of Professional Development services to local providers; these duties require traveling and operating a motor vehicle to accomplish duties
Professional Development Training and Instructional Design:
Delivers training as needed according to training schedule and identified needs
Maintains training records and delivers training on a statewide basis
Acts as a point of contact for professional development expertise
Engages in Training of Trainers to develop training expertise in additional content areas under guidance of PD leadership
These duties require traveling and operating a motor vehicle to accomplish duties
Provides professional development instructional design support and subject matter expertise to PD Center leadership
Other Professional Development Initiative:
Participates in regular planning and strategy meetings with other Professional Development Center Specialists
Participates in ongoing Professional Development initiatives to keep abreast of developments and trends in the field. Supports other objectives of the Professional Development Center, including research activities as approved by funder
May assist in the evaluation, observation, mentoring, and development of trainers used by TRAIN PD
