Job Description
Purpose:
The Engineer will perform research in Prof. Arum Han lab, the NanoBio Systems Laboratory, a multidisciplinary lab featured in biological related research integrated with MicroTAS or MEMS (website: http://nanobio.tamu.edu).
The candidate is expected to work together with other postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, develop hardware system/euqipment for biological use.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement a hardware control system to regulate screening platforms.
- Integrate custom-designed PCB circuits, sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers for automated system control.
- Collaborate with firmware and software engineers to develop communication protocols for seamless hardware-software integration.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary research teams to ensure the system meets experimental and operational requirements.
- Optimize hardware performance, reliability, and scalability for research applications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What is helpful:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
- Extensive experience in hardware development for control systems, instrumentation, or automation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong expertise in PCB circuit design and layout for microfluidic control systems.
- Experience in integrating hardware components such as microcontrollers (Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi), actuators, and sensors.
- Proficiency in embedded systems programming, signal processing, and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced interdisciplinary research environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and collaboration.
