What we want
The Youth Adventure Program (YAP) Program Aide oversees and participates in daily operations of the Youth Adventure Program summer camp, hosted by the Department of Educational Psychology with Texas A&M University. Duties consist of, but not limited to, facilitating camp schedule, including meals, activities, and events, utilize team building and communication skills within a summer camp environment, supervise adolescents within campus, community, and residential settings, board in dorm while camp is in session, work alongside counseling staff, report to camp manager, and other duties as required.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience

Schedule: This is a part-time/temporary position

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or undergraduate coursework in Education, Psychology, or Interdisciplinary Studies fields
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a school, university, and/or professional settings with adolescents or young adults
- Valid and unexpired driver’s license to operate motor vehicle (van)
- Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, or Interdisciplinary Studies fields
- Graduate level coursework in gifted and talented education, creativity, and/or curriculum and instruction
- Teaching certificate, or progress towards earning state teaching license
- 2 years’ experience working in a summer camp setting with children or adolescents
- Experience or background working with gifted and talented youth
- CPR certification, or the ability to be CPR certified before start of camp
- Bilingual speaker
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with a variety of abilities and personalities
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Physical activity such as walking and strenuous exercise may be part of the job as well as spending time outside in the heat
- Oversee and participate in daily operations of the Youth Adventure Program
- Facilitate camp schedule, including meals, activities, and events
- Utilize team building and communication skills within a summer camp environment
- Supervise adolescents within the campus, community, and residential settings
- Stay in dorm 24/7 while camp is in session
- Work alongside counseling staff
- Report to camp manager
