Glimpse of the Job
The Architecture Industry Engagement Director functions as a departmental liaison to architectural firms, industry partners, and departmental alumni and provides leadership for departmental stakeholder engagement events and functions, such as Architecture Industry Advisory Council (A IAC) meetings. The director also provides strategic thought leadership, planning, and development to Department of Architecture Career Fairs.
Opportunities to Contribute
Advisory Council Development and Engagement :
Serves as an industry liaison to ensure high-quality, engaging board meetings
Develops short-term and long-term outreach goals and objectives
Cultivates relationships with the Texas A&M Foundation and the Association of Former Students
Brings industry feedback and awareness to internal stakeholders
Solicits and tracks A IAC memberships and contributions
Produces a comprehensive annual report for current and potential A IAC members and other industry stakeholders
Stakeholder Development and Engagement :
Creates engagement strategy for internal and external stakeholders
Cultivates relationships and opportunities with alumni, industry trade associations, and other external stakeholders to promote student employment and career opportunities
Acts as a vital link between the academic programs and industry, promoting the work of the academic programs and students to external stakeholders
Collaborates with University Career Services
Develops and tracks student employment data annually and longitudinally to make recommendations for strategic change
Plans, coordinates, and oversees the logistical and administrative support for events including the National Alumni receptions for TxA and AIA Conference on Architecture, scholarship banquet, open houses, Celebration of Excellence / End of Year Show, undergraduate / graduate honors recognition ceremony, meetings, specialized activities, projects, long term initiatives, new programs, and other departmental functions. Assists with guest parking, conference room, and classroom reservations via Astra
Communications and Public Relations :
- Create communication and marketing strategy for career fair and Architecture Industry Advisory Council (A IAC) events in coordination with marketing

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field and equivalent combination of education and experience
Ten years of related experience in business development or a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications :
A Master’s or an advanced degree
Prior professional experience in a comparable leadership role
Significant experience in fundraising
Experience with academic agencies of similar institutional environments
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Commitment to academic program and advisory board success
Skilled in initiating, developing, and maintaining relationships
Ability to effectively communicate with large audiences
