Job Description
The Program Specialist I, under general supervision, performs specialist duties for the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP).
Salary Information : The expected salary range for this position is $44,000-$48,000 annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Identifies and matches grant opportunities with needs / interests of faculty, staff, and / or administrators.
Assists with drafting and editing competitive grant proposals to external funding agencies.
Manages the timely submission of grant proposals and ensures compliance with all requirements.
Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Assists in the preparation of budgets, special reports, and other documents.
Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.
Maintains database of grant submissions and funding received.
Reconciles each grant account monthly and provides monthly reports.
Develops, negotiates, and reviews sub-contracts and sub agreements and prepares them to be signed.
Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and monitors program or services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
No prior experience required.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
State of Texas and / or higher education experience
Experience with federal / state grant programs
Proposal development and / or contract management experience
Experience in grant writing and / or grant management.
Experience in events planning
Knowledge of Canva or other graphic design applications
Other requirements
Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
