The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Salary :

3,896.88 - $6,825.25 per month commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary :

The Software Application Developer I, under direction, performs routine software development support functions, such as troubleshooting, analysis, research, de-bugging, and problem-solving for the Financial Accounting Management Information System (FAMIS). The scope of the position involves producing outlines which can be used to develop programs for computer applications; writing programs for moderately complex problems and analyzing and documenting overall system concepts.

Responsibilities : - Program moderately complex FAMIS modules and interfaces.- Assists with preparing specifications suitable for translation into programs, design files and record formats and determine methods for data file manipulation for the application.- Assist with development of logic for system flow and implement and refine module.- Troubleshoots and resolves moderately complex problems by reviewing and analyzing software documentation and production output to identify causes, solutions, and make appropriate referrals. Evaluates and follows through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated.- Write and maintain efficient and effective database procedures in Transact-SOL.- Provide support to production control staff and FAMIS staff members.- Assist in the preparation of user documentation and provide training to clients and FAMIS staff in how to use the system / modifications.- Develop and monitor schedules for implementation and delivery of software systems.- Meet with users in determining automation specifications for moderately complex systems or portions of systems for FAMIS.- Follow policies, procedures and standards. Recommend changes and system modifications.- Professional development. Read and research job-related technology and security changes.- Attend seminars, conferences, educational courses, etc. to develop and grow technical and professional skills.- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience : - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or business related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Four months of business-oriented application development / support experience.

Experience with Integrated Development Environments and service tools (e.g. Visual Studio, Blazer, Azure DevOps and GIT).- Experience with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Javascript).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Programming skills in one or more object-oriented languages (e.g. C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core) - Database development with SQL Server or other relational databases. - Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to meet with users to gather and document system requirements. - Occasional work outside scheduled hours.

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Programming skills in one or more business-oriented (e.g. COBOL, Fortran, Natural Adabas)
