The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, managing, and retaining volunteers to support the organization's programs and events. This role ensures that volunteers are effectively integrated into the organization and feel valued for their contributions. An understanding of and passion for TAP’s mission and branding is critical to the success of this role.
Position Description
- Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract a diverse group of volunteers.
- Screen, interview, and match volunteers with appropriate roles based on their skills and interests.
- Organize and conduct volunteer orientation and training sessions.
- Schedule and coordinate volunteer assignments for programs, events, and daily operations.
- Provide ongoing support, supervision, and recognition to volunteers.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer information, hours, and activities.
- Evaluate volunteer performance and provide feedback to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
- Plan volunteer appreciation events and recognition programs.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and legal regulations regarding volunteer engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, human resources, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in volunteer management or coordination.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in volunteer management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to motivate and engage volunteers with diverse backgrounds.
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 lbs.
- Combination of office work and event site presence.
- Some travel may be required.
- Must reside in the Greater Austin Area and be eligible to work in the State of Texas.
Salary range $45,000- $49,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Texas Advocacy Project provides health insurance, training, licensing renewal, and you have the opportunity to participate in the Project’s matching retirement plan. Generous paid vacation, personal leave, and holidays.
