General Description

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an Auditor who will conduct advanced forensic analysis involving financial processes and systems related to criminal investigations; reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating financial data; preparing reports and responding to inquiries; and recommending appropriate action to detect and disrupt money laundering.

Essential Position Functions

• Assists with criminal investigations by analyzing complex records of persons suspected in public corruption, white collar crimes, and money laundering
• Analyzes suspicious journal entries, supporting documentation; evaluates financial records
• Conducts forensic audits to detect impropriety in accounting for revenues, expenses, and accruals
• Investigates suspect financial processes and systems
• Conducts analysis of third-party audits, including accumulation of data, financial analysis, and reporting
• Works with Law enforcement and Attorneys in the investigations and Prosecution of Criminal matters
• Provides interpretation on technical questions of accounting procedures along with applicable state and federal statutes and regulations
• Develops financial investigation plans and uses financial investigative software to conduct forensic audits.
• Assesses compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act
• Prepares audit reports, audit work papers, and memorandums detailing findings
• Testifies at hearings, Grand Jury, and trials
• Performs related work as assigned
• Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
• Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
• Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
• Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
  
  

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and/or financial investigation
• Experience: 6 years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and/or financial investigation
• Skill in conducting effective research
• Skill in using a computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval
• Skill in working with spreadsheets or databases
• Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
• Skill in effective oral and written communication [Writing sample required at time of interview, if selected]
• Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
• Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
• Ability to provide excellent customer service
• Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
• Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
• Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
• Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
• Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related discipline
• Experience: 8 years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and/or financial investigation
• Education: Nine semester hours in accounting
• Experience performing and interpreting forensic analyses
• Experience in a Criminal Justice environment
• Experience in White Collar crime
• Experience testifying in court
• Experience working with law enforcement
• Skills in working with complex software programs and databases
• Ability to interpret various statutes
• Ability to analyze, evaluate, and summarize financial and management records for accuracy and conformance to procedures, rules, and regulations
• Ability to prepare reports and correspondence regarding findings
• Ability to administer financial processes and systems
• Certifications: Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
• Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
