The Data and Information Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an Administrative Assistant whose work will involve entry-level mail operations. Work involves processing incoming and outgoing U.S. Postal, inter-departmental and inter-agency mail. The OAG Mail Center performs a variety of functions that support the agency mission and activities by accurately processing 5 million incoming and outgoing items annually.

Essential Position Functions
- Collects and delivers agency United States Postal Service incoming mail, inter-departmental and inter-agency mail from and to mail code stop locations, meeting scheduled time lines; separates outgoing mail into mail trays and tubs according to the processing method requested by the agency divisions
- Processes and delivers incoming certified and overnight mail to the correct mail code stop locations obtaining a legible recipient signature
- Sorts incoming mail by names and division codes for delivery; processes outgoing agency postage mail using automated digital mailing accounting system
- Operates digital mailing equipment including digital postage meters, automated accounting computer systems, and a computerized parcel shipping system
- The position requires a moderate level of physical activity. Tubs and trays of mail must be lifted and moved several times throughout each day. Mail hampers, both full and empty, must be rolled to different locations daily.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Experience: One year of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: administrative support, customer service, general office, or clerical experience in a professional office or mail center environment; may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience
- Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record
- Knowledge of mail operation processes
- Knowledge of city streets and ability to navigate prescribed locations in a timely manner
- Knowledge of traffic regulations
- Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
- Skill in effective oral and written communication
- Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
- Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
- Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
- Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
- Ability to lift and relocate 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%
- Experience: One year full-time State of Texas mail operations, office, courier, or customer service experience
- Experience working in the Office of the Attorney General or other governmental agency
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and Outlook
