The Texas Bankers Association (TBA) is the largest and oldest state banking organization in the country. Founded in 1885, TBA has grown and evolved over the years in fulfilling its mission to provide world class advocacy, education and products and services to approximately 400 member banks across Texas. A not-for-profit, 501(c)(6) entity, TBA has also serves as the umbrella to three for-profit subsidiaries and a non-profit foundation – all totaling nearly 100 employees across the enterprise. What our Team Needs:
The Education & Events Specialist is responsible for the implementation of quality educational programs and products to meet the training needs of TBA members. The professional development department collaborates with teams across TBA to support best-in-class offerings to our customers. In this role, the specialist will support an array of events. This position requires a team player who communicates well with staff regarding programs and status.The individual must maintain an attitude of cooperation and work with all departments and be willing to learn about the banking industry. In addition, the position entails management over the timely production, revision and sale of professional development publications to meet customer needs.
Key Components of the Position:
- Assist with the planning and logistics for in-person and virtual events, including but not limited to food & beverage needs, audio-visual requirements, room sets, virtual event setup and execution.
- Attend/staff assigned in-person and virtual events to facilitate and support online/onsite logistics.
- Work closely with and support other members of the team to ensure the successful delivery of all events from start to finish.
- Assists with special projects and events which may include scheduling event rehearsals, securing speaker agreements, preparing event briefs, and more.
- Oversee professional development publications – including resource guides and salary survey with responsibilities including, relationship management with authors, timely updates to publications, budget management and marketing of publications.
- Respond to individual requests for information regarding products, services, programs and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Professional Development, CRM database management and working on various special projects.
Essential Qualifications & Characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 3–5 years of meeting planning or event operations experience required, prior association experience a plus.
- Proven experience as an events planner or organizer.
- Experience with virtual, hybrid, & in-person event design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Knowledge of the banking industry a plus, but not required.
- Experience with IMIS or membership databases a plus, but not mandatory.
- Experience working with Office 365 platforms (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Familiarity with video conferencing platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)
- Ability to work with various hardware and operating systems (Mac & PC)
*This is a full-time position. Some overnight travel required.
