What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at Texas Biomedical Research?
The Facilities team at Texas Biomed is looking for a Project Engineer to lead planning and design activity in support of site-wide campus facility needs, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, chemical, etc. The Project Engineer will represent TX Biomed in engineering, also supporting new building design and construction, facility reconfiguration / renovation, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, infrastructure, and other facilities.
THE ROLE :
- Gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, external requirements, required completion date, and solution feasibility and estimated cost.
- Coordinate with architecture / engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
- Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Develop budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs.
- Assist the coordination and overall integration of technical activities in architecture or engineering projects.
- Review and submit proposals, plans, or designs related to facility repair and improvement projects and systems.
- Plan the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, or repair of facilities or equipment.
- Support maintenance department staff with technical analysis and recommendations.
- Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential engineering studies or projects.
