What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Accountant position at Texas Card House?
Texas Card House is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in financial operations, with a primary focus on month-end close, bank reconciliations, and internal audits. This is a hybrid-remote position and reports to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Close
- Assist in preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and analyze variances.
- Ensure all month-end tasks are completed in accordance with deadlines.
Budgeting Assistance
- Support the updating and reviewing of monthly budgets.
- Assist in variance analysis, comparing budgets vs actuals.
- Support in researching the factors driving increases or decreases in P&L trends.
Bank Reconciliations & Cash Management
- Assist in monthly bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of all banking transactions.
Internal Audits & Compliance
- Assist in internal audits to ensure adherence to company policies and financial regulations.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Assist with external audits by preparing required documentation and reports.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Maintain organized financial records for regulatory and internal use.
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
