Overview:
An Insurance Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the insurance-related activities within an organization. They work closely with insurance providers, healthcare providers (if applicable), patients, and other stakeholders to ensure that insurance claims are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification and Enrollment:
- Verify and confirm patient or client insurance information to ensure that policies are active and applicable to services rendered.
- Ensure that proper insurance coverage details are collected and documented in a timely manner.
Communication:
- Serve as the main point of contact for insurance-related inquiries for patients, clients, or other stakeholders.
- Maintain effective communication with insurance companies to resolve any coverage issues.
- Educate patients or clients about their insurance coverage, co-pay, and benefits.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain detailed records of insurance coverage, authorizations, and payments.
- Update and track all insurance information to ensure it is current and accurate.
Compliance:
- Stay up to date on industry changes, policies, and insurance regulations to ensure compliance.
Payment Processing:
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate posting of payments and insurance remittances.
- Help manage patient balance and collect co-pays.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field may be preferred.
- Previous experience in insurance verification for IV medications
- Familiarity with insurance software systems
- Ability to manage complex information accurately.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to handle interactions with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams.
- Capacity to resolve issues related to denied or underpaid claims efficiently.
Schedule Expectations:
- Monday thru Friday, 8a-5p, with occasional overtime as needed
- Possibility of one (1) weekly work from home day dependent on employee’s performance after a 90-day probationary period.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $22.50 per hour
