Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Quality Planning Division.

This position is a member of our Water Quality Planning Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING...
- Provide contract management support for the Water Quality Planning Division (WQPD) of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Assist the budget analyst with monitoring encumbrances and payments in the state accounting system. Maintain tracking spreadsheets, including documenting activity related to contract payments. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of information and generates documents and reports.
- Review and monitor contract invoices; ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance. Resolve discrepancies by defining causes and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate and serve as a liaison with other agency staff (Office of Legal Services, Financial Administration Division, and other TCEQ Divisions) on the development of contracts and grants, including amendments, changes, and modifications.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing umbrella contracts, state/corporation contracts, and/or contractual amendments.
- Experience with Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) and Microsoft Excel for data entry, reports, and data manipulation.
- Experience with State of Texas contract procedures and policies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
OR
Four years of full-time experience in contracting or purchasing.
Note: Must obtain the Texas Contract Manager Certification (CTCM) within twelve (12) months of hire date

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Contract Specialist II state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Contract Specialist II series.
