This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Manage the Plan and Technical Review Section of the Water Supply Division (WSD) of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Manage and oversee the staff and highly advanced program activities of the Plan and Technical Review Section, consistent with division and section goals and objectives under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
- Complete/oversee personnel management functions, which includes interviewing, hiring, and performance management.
- Oversee, develop, and monitor the assigned budget(s) and various professional service contracts.
- Communicate information and oversee communication, customer service, technical support, and assistance to employees, management, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide mentoring and promote professional development opportunities for section staff.
- Lead, assist with and/or coordinate special projects such as water security, emergency response, rule writing, review of proposed regulations, bill review/analysis and streamlining Section/Division processes.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in personnel management (includes hiring, training staff, performance appraisals, and directing the work of staff).
- Experience working with the regulatory requirements, technical aspects, and compliance of public water systems.
- Experience mentoring technical staff and providing technical consultation to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience providing support and information for legislative, federal activities and/or initiatives.
- Experience speaking at meetings, conferences, trainings, and/or other events.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in the management of a business function, division, or department relevant to assignment.
OR
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.
