This position is a member of our Occupational Licensing and Registration Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Review and process complex registrations, notifications and/or reports for Industrial & Hazardous Waste (IHW), Sludge Transporters, Used Oil, Medical Waste Transporters, and Enclosed Container programs.
- Provide technical assistance to the regulated community and coworkers both verbally and in written correspondence for the IHW, Sludge Transporters, Used Oil, Medical Waste Transporters, and Enclosed Container programs.
- Provide training on technical requirements and registration processes to junior team members. Assist with quality assurance/ quality control (QA/QC) of work products for the team.
- Prepare, coordinate and ensure completion of Public Information Requests (PIRs) in accordance with agency procedures, including maintaining tracking databases and preparing written correspondence.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with the Texas Administrative Code Rules and Regulations.
- Experience using the Permit and Registration Information System (PARIS), Internal Data Application (IDA), and/or Central Registry (CR) databases.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus three years of full-time experience performing supervisory, managerial, professional or technical work which must include: analysis of work problems having an administrative aspect and interpretation of complex written material; or planning, organizing, and coordinating requirements for support services or program operations where a wide range of demands are involved, including interpretation of complex written material.
One year of full-time experience in an administrative capacity* may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
A graduate degree in public administration, business administration, human resources administration, environmental resource management, planning, or in an area relevant to the position from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
- Administrative capacity is work where primary duties consist of performing administrative tasks of an office, excluding work such as clerical, secretarial, sales, equipment operations, and manual labor.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Program Specialist III state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Program Specialist III series.
