Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the Drinking Water Assessment Team.
YOUR FUTURE TEAM
As part of TCEQ’s Office of Water, you would address diverse issues related to groundwater quality and quantity. This includes brainstorming sessions on developing sustainable groundwater resources for future generations through planning, monitoring, and assessing current and future groundwater conditions.
This position is a member of the Drinking Water Assessment Team in the Water Supply Division.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience coordinating projects in a team environment.
- Experience conducting presentations and/or experience providing customer service by conveying technical information to a non-technical audience
- Experience in project and/or contract management. Certified Texas Contract Management.
- Experience in data analysis, creating and maintaining databases and/or spreadsheets.
- Experience writing, reviewing, interpreting, and/or summarizing technical documents.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING...
- Lead and oversee program activities for the implementation and administration of the Lead Testing in School and Child Care Program for the Water Supply Division of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Coordinate and develop program guidance documents; evaluate data to establish ranking and eligible participants, provide technical oversight of application evaluation; and serve as technical expert on program requirements and rules and regulations regarding lead monitoring in drinking water.
Oversee the development of program promotional and informational materials; coordinate communication and marketing of the program to foster interest of eligible participants; and conduct presentations at meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
- Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts; and assist in planning and monitoring the program’s budget. Communicate program requirements with management and other agency staff; keep management informed of developing issues; respond to management requests; and provide assistance to the program participants and the public, responding to inquiries, requests, and/or complaints.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus six years of full-time experience performing supervisory, managerial, professional or technical work which must include: analysis of work problems having an administrative aspect and interpretation of complex written material; or planning, organizing, and coordinating requirements for support services or program operations where a wide range of demands are involved, including interpretation of complex written material.
One year of full-time experience in an administrative capacity* may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
- Administrative capacity is work where primary duties consist of performing administrative tasks of an office, excluding work such as clerical, secretarial, sales, equipment operations, and manual labor.
A graduate degree in public administration, business administration, human resources administration, environmental resource management, planning, or an area relevant to the position, from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Program Specialist VI state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Program Specialist VI series.
