Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting; a bachelor's or master's degree in finance with 12 hours in accounting; or any bachelor’s degree with a total of 24 semester hours of accounting

In this role you will:

Prepares for audit engagement on advanced tax audits.

  • Establishes audit period; reviews current audit file and prior audit findings as required by division policy. Reviews pertinent law, rules, and legal aspects, and other available information as necessary.

Follows established procedures to conduct advanced tax audits .

  • Conducts entrance conference to identify availability of records and to review and understand taxpayer’s accounting system. Determines scope of audit and develops audit plan, which includes but is not limited to, testing of internal controls, and performing appropriate reconciliations. Inspects and analyzes taxpayer’s books and records to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, documents exceptions, and keeps taxpayer informed of findings. If necessary, implements deviations from audit plans and documents deviations to perform audits more efficiently. Conducts exit conference to discuss findings and explain taxpayer rights.

Prepares and presents audit reports that conform to prescribed agency policy on advanced tax audits.

  • Verifies the accuracy of data entries and reports. Properly assembles audit package.

Demonstrates the ability to carry out the responsibilities and duties of a senior tax lead.

  • Performs field visits and workload reviews, accurately documenting and giving developmental feedback. Manages an audit group in the supervisor’s absence per office and divisional objectives. Provides timely and insightful information for the preparation of interim evaluations, full evaluations, as well as other employee personnel forms.
  • Meets training requirements.

Prioritizes, plans, and organizes assignments in a manner which optimizes efficiency on advanced tax audits.

  • Plans available time to efficiently complete assigned tasks. Is dependable, sets and meets deadlines and produces high-quality work. Prepares for workload review meetings. Prioritizes assignments according to age and assignment type. Is receptive to constructive feedback and adjusts work behavior based on feedback. Is responsive to inquiries and assignments in a timely manner, regardless of the requestor’s status.
  • Supports assignments through the redetermination process and hearing including testifying as needed.
  • Performs administrative tasks per office and division policy and other duties as assigned.

Summary Of Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (standing and walking) is routinely required to carry out some duties. It requires extensive computer, telephone, and client/customer contact. It requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Marginal or corrected visual and auditory requirements are required for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers. The individual must be able to transport a laptop computer and printer to the various audit locations to conduct the necessary field work. The individual must be able to lift, pull, physically handle, and transport taxpayer records, documents, boxes, and all related information, weighing up to 30 pounds when required. The individual must be able sit for long periods of time when commuting to and from assigned destination.

Employees are required to use their personal mobile phones as a part of 2 factor/multi factor authentication for accessing CPA systems securely. You will also receive critical/emergency calls/texts on your cell phone to ensure immediate communication.
