Job Description:
The Texas Corinthian Yacht Club is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse set of technical skills, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and general craftsmanship. This role involves physical labor and hands-on work to maintain and upgrade the Club’s physical plant and grounds. The Maintenance Technician must be proficient in communications skills (cellphone, text & email) in order to collaborate effectively with a team of professionals to ensure that the Club's facilities are operating smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks for the Club’s buildings, grounds, and equipment, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, pool and HVAC systems.
- Assist in regular internal inspections and preventive maintenance of the Club's facilities and infrastructure, as well as assist on regulatory agency inspections (Insurance, Kitchen/Food Service, Pool).
- Work with the Club Manager to prioritize, plan and execute facility upgrades, renovations, and maintenance projects.
- Maintain good working relationships with the Club’s historical service providers and manage and coordinate the work of contract labor and craft personnel, providing direction and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials, and order as necessary to complete maintenance tasks.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed and that the work environment remains clean and organized.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from Club staff and Membership and address issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Work with other Club departments and Member Committees to ensure the smooth operation of Club events and member activities.
- Maintain the Club grounds, including landscaping and irrigation, outdoor structures, docks, and other recreational facilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mechanical expertise: Ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Plumbing experience: Proficient in maintaining and repairing plumbing systems, including water lines, drains, and fixtures.
- Electrical skills: Familiarity with electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, and lighting.
- Craftsmanship experience: Strong skills in carpentry, interior finish and exterior painting, and other trade-related tasks.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in outdoor conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet when issues arise.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and ability to use tools and equipment safely.
- Reliable, responsible, and committed to maintaining a high standard of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities management role, especially in a club or hospitality setting.
- Familiarity with project management, including coordinating labor and resources for larger maintenance projects.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions (hot, cold, wet).
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
