EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
- Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Very good physical condition and strength
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this capacity, the custodian shall be directly responsible to the Director of Facilities, for the following specific duties:
- Ensuring spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
- Sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpets
- Washing and sanitizing toilets, sinks and restocking disposables
- Wipe mirrors and windows
- Maintain outer premises by watering plants and providing lawn care
- Keep all entrances, walks and parking areas clean and free of trash and lawn clippings
- Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks, painting, etc.)
- Help maintain fleet vehicles
- Monitor assigned supply inventory levels and reorder as necessary
- Deliver and receive mail and other packages to and from postal carriers; ensure mail and packages are delivered to appropriate personnel
- Report major damages and oversee repairs
- Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors and setting up the alarm
- Undertake lifting heavy items, moving chairs, moving tables, etc.
- Preparing coffee, tea and other refreshments for break rooms and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
