The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Inspector IV within the Energy Resources Department of the agency.

Performs highly complex (senior-level) inspection work. Inspection work involving conducting inspections and quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies. Assess programs and procedures to improve operations and update operating procedures. Identify and select licensees for inspection and evaluation. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

What Your Contributions To The GLO Will Be

  • Conducts research and technical reviews of leases and supporting documents to determine compliance with lease provisions, unit agreements, administrative code rules, and statutes.
  • Assists in the negotiation and administration of oil and gas and mineral leases, which includes consulting with lessees and lessors when necessary to identify lease agreement resolutions.
  • Assists in drafting and interpreting documents involving oil and gas leases, production sharing agreements, and the conveyance of property in regard to land, mineral, and well ownership.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
  • Five (5) additional years of full-time experience related to the inspection of oil and gas production facilities.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university may substitute for full-time oil and gas production facilities related experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of full-time experience related to the inspection of oil and gas production facilities.
  • Familiarity with standard industry oil and gas production components.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
