What are the responsibilities and job description for the Range Safety Officer position at Texas Gun Experience?
We are looking for a Range Safety Officer who wants to join a dynamic team and make a difference in the firearm community. As a Veteran owned business, we give hiring preference to Veterans and active-duty Reservists.
The Range Safety Officer position is responsible for eliminating or controlling hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and/or property damage.
The Range Safety Officer must apply advanced principles, methods, and techniques for safety as needed.
RANGE SAFETY OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strict adherence to the Range Standard Operating Procedures
- Evaluate conditions on the range at all times; making adjustments as necessary to maintain a safe environment.
- Assist members with a smooth and safe experience in the firing range.
- Teach customers how to operate lanes and targets.
- Run full auto machine gun packages ensuring the highest levels of safety while contributing to an exceptional customer experience.
- Know and follow emergency response plans.
- Reports daily to the Range Manager any operational issues that might need addressed.
- Experienced and familiar with many firearms and able to demonstrate the clearing of stoppages and malfunctions.
- Is responsible for overall safe conduct of firing and training.
- Assisting with new shooter orientations as needed (infrequent)
RANGE SAFETY OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years operating in a Range Safety Officer capacity. Military service is accepted in lieu of RSO experience.
- Experience with full auto and belt-fed firearms.
- Possess a great attitude and strong desire to succeed
- Excellent customer service
- Must be patient and have skills in de-escalation
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS INCLUDE
- Ability to lift 50-75lbs
- Strong attention to detail
- Mechanically inclined
