Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered EEG Technician to join our
neurodiagnostic team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in performing
electroencephalograms (EEGs), ensuring accurate data collection and delivering exceptional
patient care. This role involves working collaboratively with the neurodiagnostic laboratory
manager and with the epileptologist and other members of our team. The ideal candidate will
have experience in neurodiagnostic testing and be certified by the American Board of
Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) or
equivalent. Expertise with polysomnography (PSG) studies is a plus!
EEG Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex EEGs on adult and pediatric patients following lab protocols.
- Apply electrodes accurately using the 10-20 system of electrode placement.
- Monitor and record brain activity, identifying and documenting abnormalities and artifacts.
- Draft initial preliminary EEG reports, summarizing observations and preliminary findings for physician review.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies during testing following lab protocols.
- Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of EEG equipment.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Registered EEG Technician (R. EEG T.) certification from ABRET required.
- Experience: [2] years of experience performing EEGs (preferred but not always required for entry-level positions). Expertise with polysomnography (PSG) studies is a plus!
- Education: Associates degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology or a related field preferred.
