Job Description
- Assess, care and treat individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a state-supported living center setting.
- Evaluate healthcare needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care and quality outcomes.
- Document treatments, observations and reports in electronic health records or paper charts.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex nursing tasks and procedures, including tracheostomy care, gastrostomy/jejunostomy care, wound care and breathing treatments.
- Collect specimens for laboratory examination and conduct screening tests as requested by lab personnel.
- Administer medications, immunizations and treatments; observe patients for unusual symptoms and reactions.
- Makes rounds, home visits and works in other locations as needed.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas (or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- At least one year experience as a practicing registered nurse.
- Previous experience working with Individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD) is preferred.
