Come and join our Graduate Nurse Residency Program! We invite new graduate RNs to apply for this unique opportunity. The next cohort will begin on July 14, 2025.
Integrated into a Hospital’s education structure, the Texas Health Graduate Nurse Residency Program includes a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, a formal mentoring program, informative debriefing/self-care sessions and supportive 360-degree evaluations. Residents not only participate in the learning experience on their personally selected home units, but they also rotate/cross train through other departments to gain an expanded nursing experience vital to the complex patient care.
The Texas Health Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive, evidence based on-boarding program with a 15-month employment commitment that offers new graduate nurses an exciting opportunity to gain the experience, judgment, skills and confidence to successfully navigate the complexity of hospital life.
Where you will be working:
• Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth: 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76104
• Work environment: Intermediate Neuro
• Work hours: Upon completion of the Residency, anticipated hours will be full-time, (3)-12-hour shifts; rotating weekends, holidays, and on call shifts required
Department Highlights:
• 25-bed Neurosciences PCU
• Intermediate level of care to a wide variety of neurosciences and medical patients at a 3:1 patient to nurse ratio.
• The Neuro Progressive Care Unit provides care to a patient population with Neuro/Neurosurgical/Neuro-trauma related injuries, and pre- and post-surgical patients requiring specialized monitoring and interventions.
• NPCUs scope of practice includes but is not limited to: continuous cardiac monitoring, management of chest tubes, wound/skin care, titration of insulin drips for patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) diagnosis, titration of continuous cardiac medications to control elevated blood pressure and/or heart rate, respiratory compromised patients that require specialized equipment including continuous respiratory interventions, and tracheostomy care, multi-system organ failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, hematology, GI Bleeds, Renal/Liver Failure, Acid-Base and Electrolyte Imbalances, and cardiac abnormalities.
