Located in the heart of Dallas, Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing the best in surgical services in combination with renowned patient care. Our facility has nine OR's, three pain management/lithotripsy treatment rooms and CT scan radiology services. There are also nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs.
TIS was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.
TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, pain management, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties.
Purpose:
The LVN Pre-Admission Testing is responsible for performing pre admission labs, EKG’s, taking medical history in person or over the phone, giving Pre-op instructions and answering patient or family questions. The LVN Pre-Admission Testing communicates with physician's offices regarding lab results and needed orders, as well as preparing patient charts for upcoming surgery and inputting physician's orders. LVN Pre-Admission Testing will at all times integrate the mission and values of TIS in the provision of patient care.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Acts as physician-patient (family) liaison and acts a patient advocate.
- Documents nursing care and supplies in a relevant and concise manner that demonstrates compliance with policy and awareness of medical/legal implication.
- Provides appropriate teaching to patient and/or significant other.
- Maintains a working knowledge and through understanding of all equipment and utilities and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities.
- Exhibits strong organizational skills and expertise in completing a comprehensive medical history. Initiates the Medication Reconciliation Record. Documentation is accurate and legible.
- Build trusting relationships with customers. Preserves and protects the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity and rights of our patients and their families. Respond to needs promptly.
- Improves nursing practice and work environment through active participation in decision making processes in the unit.
- Schedules PAT appointments and Medical Clearances with the Hospitalist and enters information on scheduling grid.
- Responsible for compiling surgeon’s paperwork into the chart.
