Located in the heart of Dallas, Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing the best in surgical services in combination with renowned patient care. Our facility has nine OR's, three pain management/lithotripsy treatment rooms and radiology services. There are also nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs.
TIS was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.
TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, pain management, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties.
Job Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist provides timely, high-quality images for doctors. Responsible for the performance of radiological exams including x-rays, radiology records and equipment maintenance. Assists radiology manager with the schedule and workload of daily business activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs diagnostic radiographs for procedures and exams.
- Serves as point of contact for troubleshooting issues
- Maintains equipment to include cleaning, inspecting and reporting any malfunctions. Maintains, tracks, and confirms that all radiation regulated standards are met.
- Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.
- Schedules, orders, restocks and sets up fluoroscopy rooms for the next day. Ensures radiology supplies are replenished and stocked
- Interprets and implements policies, procedures, rules and regulations affecting all radiology activities of the hospital. Coordinate in-services with new equipment and orient new staff
- Assists with transport of patients, including to and from the fluoroscopy room or exam table and Inputs data into the computer as needed.
- Coordinates purchases of supplies and equipment. Inputs data into the computer
- Work with manager on planning, organizing and directing Imaging Service operations and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Must work in scope of practice
Qualifications
Education & Training:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some college coursework preferred
- Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college-affiliate or hospital trained
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
- Experience with employee health record (EHR) database
- Minimum 3 years of experience in multiple areas (surgery, pain management, Xray)
- Working knowledge of PACS/RIS
- CR/DR experience
Licenses / Certifications:
ARRT (R) certification
Current registration with the State of Texas-Radiology TDSHS
Key Skills:
- Ability to operate an X-ray and fluoroscope equipment as needed
- Computer literate and the ability to learn new software, as needed
- Good communication, organizational, interpersonal, time management and customer service skills required
