Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing front desk operations, ensuring a smooth patient experience, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires proficiency in medical scheduling, health information management, and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
This is a Full-time, in-person position offering holiday and PTO after 90 days. Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage medical scheduling by coordinating appointments and confirming patient visits.
- Maintain and update patient files and medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Verify medical insurance prior to all scheduled appointments.
- Confirm active insurance referrals are on file for all HMO patients prior to their appointment.
- Utilize electronic health record systems for data entry and record retrieval using eClinical works and Leading Reach.
- Handle incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
- Assist with the organization of medical records, ensuring all documentation is filed properly.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient flow and communication.
- Collect deductible, copay and co-ins. at checkout for all services rendered.
- Ensure all testing and follow up appointments are scheduled for patients.
- Follow up with patients to reschedule any missed appointments or tests.
Qualifications
- *** PREVIOUS MEDICAL FRONT OFFICE AND INSURANCE VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED ***
- Strong familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance policies and coverage guidelines.
- Previous Cardiology experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical office administration is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical scheduling, health information management, and medical billing processes.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems such as eClinical Works, Epic and Leading Reach.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
