Responsible for the safe, reliable operation of the laboratory and quality control and quality assurance at the terminal and refinery.
Qualifications
3 years of directly related laboratory experience required
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Physics, or related field required
Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation required
Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization required
Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods required
Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes required
Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities required
Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements required
Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel) required
All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
Responsibilities
Supervision and scheduling of laboratory shift technicians.
Responsible for laboratory operations quality assurance including regulatory testing compliance, inter-laboratory crosscheck programs, statistical process control programs, laboratory training program, laboratory procedures, and product specification management
Performs analyses, calibrations, methods, maintenance and repairs of instruments
Purchases / installs / certifies new equipment and works with Lab Manager to develop a 5-year plan
Installs, documents, and trains employees on new laboratory procedures or analytical methods
Develops and maintains standard operating procedures
Participates in maintenance planning meeting and manages building repairs, prepares maintenance work orders, and communicates with Operations Supervisors on upcoming jobs
