Millwright
The Millwright will repair, maintain, and facilitate installation of industrial machines used at the terminal. This position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.
Roles: (General role overview)
- Repair: responsible for proper repairs of all rotating equipment
- Safety: ensure all proper equipment, PPE, and tools are used when performing repairs.
Responsibilities: (All job functions)
- Ensures proper repair of large industrial rotating equipment.
- Uses hand tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and power tools to assemble install, align and adjust machines.
- Ensures machines perform to specifications by conducting tests; modifies and fine tunes machines.
- Operates engine lathe to adjust machine parts to dimensional specifications.
- Disassembles or dismantles machines.
- Gathers and assembles parts for repairs or modifications based on drawings.
- Troubleshoots and repairs machines including when unexpected issues arise.
- Performs preventive maintenance makes repairs on older machines.
- Provides advice and recommendations to management concerning new machinery.
- Plans and facilitates installation of new or refurbished machinery, which may include building platforms and foundations.
- Conducts safety inspections of facility equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area on a daily basis.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, layout plans, vendor installation and operation manuals, and other schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
- Assembles and installs equipment, such as shaffing, conveyors and tram rails, using cranes, hand tools and power tools.
- Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
- Performs lubricating maintenance, cleaning activities, or repair of tools, machines, and equipment.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- Operate machinery as trained.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- 3 years of experience required; four years of successful apprenticeship training preferred.
- NCCER Millwright certification is a plus.
- Thorough and broad understanding of a variety of equipment.
- Possesses a working knowledge of machine alignment.
- Must be able to assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
- Must have knowledge of optical and laser alignments.
- Use logical step-by-step procedures in work.
- Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
- Have basic math, reading, writing and computer skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of safety practices, guidelines, rules and laws.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
- Must pass all pre-employment testing including a drug test, physical and background check.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work at elevated heights, including using lifts, ladders, and stairs.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Work is done outdoors; must be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
Position Details:
- Shift work - must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Will be subject to call out.
- Non-exempt position.
