What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laser Shop Programmer position at TEXAS LABOR, CORP?
Able to use computer and has understanding of programming software and experience in Excel. Analyze production schedule and nesting priorities as given from issued schedule(s) and program CNC programs (Utilizing Sigma Nest) that will be used in CNC laser machine. Program the machine to cut to the specs from blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Write, create, and optimize tool and path programs for manufactured parts, including cut conditions.
- Developing efficient nests for CNC Laser machines that optimize material utilization and run time.
- Manage database where programming geometry and programs are stored.
- Assess and recommend tooling changes or upgrades based on effectiveness of part programs.
- Coordinate with software supplier to ensure that programming software is maintained and current.
- In-depth understanding of bill of materials, routings, CAD models and fabrication drawings.
- In-depth understanding of print dimensioning including geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
- Raise the level of production with a keen eye on meeting deadlines and QC requirement.
- Maintain safe work environment by following all required OSHA and manufacturer procedures.
- Investigate manufacturing problems as necessary and follows through with solutions as directed.
- Maintain all Raw sheet/plate materials and organize remnants for future use.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of experience programming and operating a CNC Laser Cut machine.
Proficient at writing complex CNC nesting programs for use in the production process to achieve optimal machine performance.
- Able to exercise independent judgment and discretion to obtain maximum utilization of all raw materials used in the production and manufacturing process.
- Able to regularly make decisions regarding matters of significance related to the production process with little or no direct supervision.
- Able to utilize a network infrastructure to communicate to machine controls located remotely on the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to handle multiple and frequently changing priorities.
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities, as well as good math skills.
- Lean Manufacturing implementation experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and leadership influencing skills.
- Ability to conduct inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Positive attitude, self-driven, detailed oriented who is hungry to learn and further develop his skills.
- Ability to identify problems, present solutions, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Sheet metal experience with thickness and different grades.
- Bilingual a plus
Physical Demands
- This position requires accessing all areas in the plant necessary to develop the activity. Regularly required to stand or sit, and move around the facility. Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
Education and Certification
- High School diploma or GED.
