At Texas Lawyers' Insurance Exchange (TLIE), we are a member-owned, Austin-based provider of legal malpractice (professional liability) insurance serving attorneys and judges across Texas. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic Professional Liability Underwriter to join our team. This hybrid role allows you to balance in-office collaboration and remote work, with in-person work required Monday through Wednesday and the option to work from home on Thursdays and Fridays.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management capabilities
• Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
• Proven experience in evaluating qualitative information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business/work experience
• Insurance underwriting experience
• General Lines P&C License

Responsibilities:

As a TLIE Underwriter, you will be responsible for:

• Evaluating and recommending the acceptance or declination of new and renewal business applicants.
• Determining pricing and terms for accepted applicants based on various risk factors.
• Assisting policyholders with inquiries related to their policies and any proposed changes.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with TLIE’s underwriting guidelines, service standards, and company and department objectives.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000, with performance-based bonus opportunities.
