The Referral Coordinator's primary role is to communicate effectively and provide superior service on all work referrals. To review all related paperwork to ensure that it is accurate and complete. To schedule and get approvals on all work comp referrals. Schedule all referrals in a timely manner. The WCRC must provide on-going good service to both our internal and external customers. The WCRC is expected to strictly adhere to the established practice and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Calls Designated Employer Representative (DER) and provides referral status information on work related injuries/illnesses for the assigned clinics
- Provides DER and patients the following appointment information
- Relates any needed information example: needing x-rays, MRI or CT films
- Coordinates Referrals
- Contacts adjusters to obtain claim number, policy or insurance information and network information
- Obtains authorization from adjusters, employers or third party schedulers
- Searches the Network website for list of providers for referrals
- Schedules referrals for all specialist
- Communicates information between specialist, insurance adjuster, patient, doctors and employers
- Obtains and releases medical information according to HIPPA guidelines
- Works on referrals for the assigned clinics
- Communicates effectively with physicians at assigned clinics
- Communicates issues regarding referrals to CSM or DO a timely manner
- Scans any medical records provided into patient detail
- Keeps the Business Development and Marketing Department updated of all Insurance or specialist contacts
- Follows up on all pending referrals daily
- Communicates with both the employer and patient for any delays of the referral
- Notifies the CSM or DO of any complicated cases needing assistance
- Documents specific notes on patients visit notes
- Documents all incoming or outgoing information in visit notes
- Must be punctual and reliable in attendance
- High school diploma or GED required
- Graduation from an accredited vocational training program relevant to the position (Ex: Medical Office Specialist, Medical or Office Administrative Assistant, Associates Degree in Medical Administration) OR minimum of 1 year experience relevant to the position
