Texas Meter & Device is hiring several full time, electric meter technicians in the El Paso, TX area.
Under the general direction of the Electric Meter Installation Project Manager and/or Field Supervisor(s), the team will consist of technician’s trained on residential and commercial Electric Meters. Training is at $18/hr and usually lasts about 2-3 weeks. Pay is based on production once training is successfully completed.
Technicians can make $20-30/hour or more depending on production levels. There is no cap on production pay!
Candidates must live in the El Paso area as there is not a relocation allowance or per diem associated with this position.
Responsibilities include:
- Will exchange residential and commercial class electric meters
- Use a work order management system to capture site data
- Maintain accurate records of work completed
- Oversee the materials, equipment, vehicle and tools
- Maintains and operates a company vehicle following all safety requirements and safe driving habits
- Will report to TMD location in El Paso at the beginning and ending of each shift.
- Keep track of new and used inventory
- Recording of addresses, GPS, and meter information
- Verification of proper installation/transmission of new meter data by utilizing tablet PC, handheld equipment or smartphone
- Manages daily client communications, data and reporting
- Coordinates scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirements
- Provides for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results
- Other duties and tasks as assigned or necessary
· In some cases, a technician may be asked to work evening hours to manage some commercial exchanges
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude is necessary
- Ability to use hand held device and other equipment as required for the position
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary
- Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to safely operate a company vehicle
- Stable Multi-year Work History
- Attention to Detail
- Excellent Attendance is an absolute requirement
- DEPENDABILITY
- Previous electrical experience preferred but not required
- Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience due to insurance requirements - (this is a bona fide occupational qualification for this position)
- Must have work boots with steel or composite toe protection
- Must have own personal Smart phone
- Additional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law
Shift and Pay Info:
After successful completion of training, technicians can earn $20-$30/hr or more depending on production. There is no cap on production pay!
Monday – Friday, with Saturday work available at times, if necessary
Work hours are usually an 8 hour shift, generally between the hours of 7am – 5pm
There may become a minimal need to work some commercial accounts on an evening or overnight shift.
