Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Armed Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conflict management, loss prevention, and surveillance techniques. Ability to speak to customers and residents in a respectful manner but also be stern if the situation requires it. Conduct safe and effective pat downs when required. The Armed Security Officer must have flexibility in hours and be able to rotate between different contracted posts and work different shifts during the week, including weekends and holidays. Approved uniforms must be worn in accordance with dress code requirements.
Responsibilities
-Demonstrate competence with handgun, handcuffs, baton, taser, OC spray and two-way radios
-Patrol premises regularly to maintain a safe and secure environment
-Respond to emergencies and security incidents
-Occasional exposure to aggressive behavior and emotionally charged situations
-Ability to take initial information for an incident report, use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, notes only the facts, leaving out personal opinions and submits report in a timely manner (no later than the end of assigned shift)
-Frequent exposure to heat and cold from external weather conditions
-Enforces all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of Texas Metro Patrol and the laws of the State of Texas
-Conduct security checks and inspections according to procedures
-Report any suspicious activities or incidents to the appropriate authorities and direct supervisor
-Be familiar with Texas Private Security Statutes and Rules (Occ. Code Section 1702, TAC 35)
-Must be able to purchase or have required uniform/gear
Required: Duty belt, handgun, magazines and magazine pouch, ammunition, flashlight, handcuffs and pouch, black tactical Kevlar vest, OD green cargo pants, black work boots. Gear inspection will be performed by Training Lieutenant.
Optional: Tourniquet, body camera, taser (certification preferred but not required), OC spray (must have certification for personnel file), baton (must have certification for personnel file).
-Long periods of walking, standing, stooping, and lifting
-Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
-One year experience as a Security Officer
-Prior experience in Law Enforcement or Military is preferred but not required
-Possession of Adult/Child CPR and First Aid certificates is a plus
-Must possess Level III (Texas) training certificates and pocket card
-High school diploma or equivalent required
-Must be mentally alert at all times
-Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Must be able to make immediate decisions with regards to laws, policies and procedures
-Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
-Must be able to handle personal stress and possible violence
-Successful completion of al pre-employment and post offer assessments, to include the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) and a clinical interview by a third-party psychologist (must be complete prior to Private Security License renewal)
-Will be required to take random drug test screening
-Valid Driver's License
-Reliable transportation
-Must be able to commute to Nacogdoches, Tx
