About the Role
We are hiring a Director of Surgical Services RN to lead a high-impact perioperative team at a trusted community-based hospital in the Walterboro area. This role oversees all surgical operations, ensuring safe patient care, quality compliance, operational excellence, and strategic growth of the service line. The Director will report directly to the CEO and lead 15 FTEs across 4 ORs and 1 Endoscopy Suite, managing approximately 100 surgical cases per month.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of surgical services, including ORs and endoscopy
Lead surgical nursing teams to ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
Develop and implement quality improvement programs focused on patient safety and outcomes
Maintain fiscal responsibility by managing department budgets and optimizing resources
Collaborate with executive and medical staff on strategic planning, capital requests, and service line expansion
Monitor clinical performance indicators and implement strategies for performance improvement
Ensure high levels of patient, physician, and staff satisfaction
Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing nursing teams and future leaders
Promote evidence-based practices and enforce procedural and safety standards
Act as a community ambassador and hospital leader for surgical services excellence
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, or Healthcare Administration preferred
Active RN license in South Carolina (or Compact RN eligible)
3 years of leadership experience in perioperative services required
CNOR or CSSM preferred
Strong leadership presence with a collaborative, results-driven approach
