Overview :

Texas Oncology is seeking a Therapeutic Medical Physicist to join our expanding Gulf Coast Physics and Dosimetry Team! The ideal candidate will work with our seven Physicist (s) two physics residents and six Dosimetrist (s) to help provide physics coverage to include HDR and Stereotactic Procedures. You will be supported by the physics and dosimetry team which includes five Sr. Medical Physicists. We have a CAMPEP approved Medical Physicist Residency program.

Responsibilities :

Our Gulf Coast Team covers the Houston market as well as Southeast Texas (Beaumont) and we have 7 Sites. The Gulf Coast Region currently consist of 6 Radiation Oncologist covering 7 sites which provide SRS, SBRT, and HDR programs. The new candidate will support the Gulf Coast Region, the Houston market specifically.

The Gulf Coast Region equipment includes a variety of Varian Linacs; TrueBeam, Trilogy, 21iX and 21ex. We also have GE CT Simulators at each clinic with 4D capability, 4 Elekta HDR systems, a mobile PET / CT coach, a Varian Eclipse RTPS cloud based, Aria EMR, RadCalc and Sun Nuclear Sun Check. We will be constructing 1 new Cancer Centers to replace existing centers as well as building a new cancer center and remodeling an existing cancer center in the next 24 months.

The essential duties and responsibilities :

  • Full range of on-site clinical medical physics support to include HDR
  • Support and participate in physics support for the Gulf Coast Region
  • Occasionally, as needed, travel to sites within the region for on-site physics support
  • Determines the need for, specifies, and accesses dosimetric and treatment planning equipment including, but not limited to, measurement instruments to calibrate all treatment equipment and monitoring devices, computerized treatment planning systems, computerized water phantom systems with appropriate ionization chambers and diodes, etc.
  • Advises and consults with physicians to provide advice or direction to technical staff when patients are being planned or treated.

Qualifications :

Desired Skills and Qualifications :

  • Applicants must have a Masters degree or PhD in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be ABR certified, or have completed a CAMPEP approved residency and be board eligible, and have working experience in a clinical environment.
  • Minimum two to five years experience in clinical radiation physics.
  • Texas Medical Board license required.
