What does the Radiation Therapist do?
This position is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients. Accuracy in positioning the beam of radiation to correspond with the designated tumor volume and accurately delivering the prescribed dose are paramount job functions. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities :
The essential duties and responsibilities :
- Accurately manufactures cerrobend blocks including proper labeling for patient and orientations.
- Under direct supervision, assists in the set up of accurate radiation therapy treatments and simulations including assisting with patient transfers, set-up and changing custom blocks.
- Assists with maintaining QA standards for processes by conducting regularly scheduled diagnostic equipment checks.
- May be responsible for daily x-ray film processing.
- Assists with front office duties including film acquisition and inventory, answering phones, and filing and purging medical records.
- Performs courier services to transfer patient information between treatment sites.
- Assists with the manufacture of custom patient molds / treatment devices in the simulator and / or treatment room.
- Assists in maintaining accurate x-ray film, contrast and medical supply inventories.
