Position: Grounds Keeper [1051]
Program: Amarillo, Texas – Maintenance
Salary: $15.66/hr. - $16.54/hr.
Shift available: Full-time
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
- The Grounds Keeper performs routine work in maintenance, grounds keeping, and building-construction trades in order to assist maintenance technicians in maintaining and repairing buildings, residential facilities, furnishings, utility systems, grounds, stationary equipment, and/or motorized equipment
- The Grounds Keeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of grounds, parking lots, and maintenance areas
- Flexibility in work hours is needed, especially during the winter months when “snow duties” are required
- The Grounds Keeper works under the moderate supervision of the Director of Support Services with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement
- Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised
Required qualifications to be successful in the job:
- High school diploma or GED
- One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
- Working knowledge of and ability to perform basic maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming of lawns, weeding of flower beds, tree trimming, removal of trash from grounds, moving furniture, painting, shoveling snow, de-icing sidewalks and driveways
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
- Must be 18 years of age or older
