Position: Caregiver [1327] Respite
Program: Amarillo, Texas – Respite Van Tassel
Salary: $15.66/hr.
Shift available: Full-time (Saturday & Sunday nights from 9 pm - 9 am; and 2 weekdays from 3 pm - 11 pm; and any relief)
Essential duties and responsibilities of the Caregiver:
- Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
- The Caregiver performs direct care for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting for male or female residents
- The Caregiver is responsible for training, transporting, preparation of meals, feeding, bathing, toileting, medication administration and maintaining a safe and clean environment for the residents, and other duties associated with daily living
- Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised
Required qualifications of the Caregiver to be successful in the job:
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of work experience assisting in therapeutic activities
- High school diploma or GED
- One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred qualifications of the Caregiver to be successful in the job:
- Some experience working with individuals with IDD diagnoses
