Position: Caregiver
Program: Amarillo, Texas – Alternate Living
Salary: $15.66/hr.
Full-time shifts:
- Monday - Thursday splits from 6 am - 9 am & 3 pm - 10 pm
- Tuesday - Friday splits from 6 am - 9 am & 3 pm - 10 pm
- Wednesday - Sunday nights from 10 pm - 6 am
- Saturday & Sunday from 6 am - 4 pm; and Monday & Friday splits from 6 am - 9 am & 3 pm - 10 pm
- Saturday & Sunday from 12 pm - 10 pm; and Monday & Tuesday nights from 8 pm - 6 am
Essential duties and responsibilities of the Caregiver:
- Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
- The Caregiver performs direct care for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting
- The Caregiver is responsible for training, transporting, cooking, feeding, bathing, toileting, and other duties associated with daily living
- Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised
Required qualifications of the Caregiver to be successful in the job:
- No experience required
- Either a high school diploma; or GED; or three written professional letters of recommendation and the completion of competency tests
- One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE)
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred qualifications of the Caregiver to be successful in the job:
- Some experience in therapeutic activities
- Ability to speak Spanish a plus
- Four (4) years of experience in teaching multi-disabled adults in groups and individual settings through Person Direct Plan methodology
- Four (4) years working experience in performing, training, and monitoring behavior therapy techniques and response documentation
