GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
As a member of the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center team, this position is responsible for planning, development, and dissemination of quality aquatic, angler, environmental education, and interpretive programming and displays.
Under the direction of the program supervisor, this position performs moderately complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. As a member of the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center team, this position is responsible for planning, development, and dissemination of quality aquatic, angler, and environmental education and interpretive programming and displays. Develops innovative educational materials for youth groups, school groups, and teacher training. Develops, organizes, and participates in educational and interpretive programming for TFFC daily visitors, special events, and outreach events. Provides guidance and development of TFFC education and interpretation volunteers. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications:

Education :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor degree in Wildlife Science, Fisheries, Ecology or closely related field.
Experience :
Two years of experience developing and conducting scientific interpretive and informational programs in museums, science or nature center or similar facility and/or in combination two years of experience in educational and interpretive programming.
Licensure :
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class C Texas driver's license.
NOTE : Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in Wildlife Science, Fisheries, Ecology or closely related field may substitute for one year of required experience.

Skill in planning and implementation of interpretive and educational programs;
Skill in making independent, sound, timely decisions;
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts;

Ability to work with outside groups and agencies to implement and fund innovative programs;
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with some evenings, holidays and weekends as required.
May be required to operate a State vehicle.
Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays.
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures.
Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
