Hybrid Operations and Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary: The Hybrid Operations and Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing collection routes, driver/laborer performance, and supervising a maintenance shop. This role ensures that all operations and maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulations.
Principal Responsibilities:

Operations Management:
- Organize and schedule resources to accomplish daily activities.
- Plan, distribute, monitor, and follow-up on route assignments.
- Manage end-of-day check-in process, capturing key service, safety, and equipment issues.
- Monitor driver and laborer time and attendance, minimizing overtime.
- Review weekly demand/volume for routes and recommend re-routes.
- Set and monitor productivity, service, and safety targets.
- Conduct root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents.
- Visit customers and sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
- Maintenance Management:
- Supervise a team of technicians responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of a fleet.
- Plan and schedule repair work to ensure timely completion.
- Conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and performance evaluations.
- Perform inspections of outside repairs and follow up as needed.
- Conduct quality control inspections and track issue resolution.
- Oversee repair diagnostics and provide coaching.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Manage administrative matters, including payroll and maintenance records.
- Safety Program Responsibilities:
- Infield and desktop observations.
- Meeting prep and execution.
- Setting the example as a leader.
- Conducting regular safety training sessions and drills.
- Developing and implementing safety protocols and procedures.
- Performing safety audits and inspections.
- Investigating and reporting safety incidents and near-misses.
- Promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.; Associate's Degree preferred.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification (T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T2, ASE T Master Certified).
- CDL Class B or higher with a safe driving record.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- 6 years of experience in maintenance working with class 8 refuse trucks.
- 3 years of supervisory experience in operations or maintenance roles.
- Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Ability to manage both operations and maintenance teams.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance software and administrative task.
