Manager of District Transportation Job Description
Job Summary:
Manager of District Transportation will oversee and coordinate the school district transportation for students including but not limited to routes and trips.
Reports to:
Director of Transportation
Supervisory Respons ibi l i t ies :
- Recruits, hires and trains district administrative and transportation staff.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of district staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with policy.
- Coordinates and communicates with school districts and student’s guardians.
- Maintain staff CDL files.
- Ensures the efficient running of the district logistical operations.
Duties/Respons ibi l i t ies :
- Leads plan development for transportation-related needs. Assigns qualified staff to execute selected parts of each need.
- Forecasts the city’s long-range transportation needs and modifies plans based on current data and trends. Leads and collaborates with senior management and transportation team to design a year-by-year program meant to address those needs.
- Regularly prepares and distributes work-status reports to the senior management.
- Actively participates in school council for long-range transportation planning as a representative of the city. Coordinates district plans with those long-range goals.
- Develops the budget, in collaboration with senior management, necessary to execute the district responsibilities.
- Provides advice regarding, and accounts for, current use of allocated funds to senior management for district.
- Maintains current knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.
- Ability to operate a bus safely.
- Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Enter payroll hours.

Manager of District Transportation Job Description
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Excellent managerial skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of community groups.
- Have a valid class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
- Must be 21 years of age.
Phys ica l Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must pass a drug screening and physical exam.
- Prolonged periods of operating the bus.
- Must be able to assist passengers when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
