What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at Texas Rv Outlet?
This controller position is accountable for the accounting operations and personnel management of two small RV lots and related finance companies. Responsibilities include producing periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. While the Controller must work closely with the dealerships management team, he/she has direct reporting responsibilities to ownership of the dealership.
Essential Duties
Management
1. Properly execute all corporate accounting policies and procedures.
2. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
3. Assist in supervising all finance team staff.
4. Safeguard assets and ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions
5. Ensure all personnel management processes, policies, and records are properly executed and maintained
6. Ensure proper processes are in place to prevent fraud and misrepresentation
Accounting Administration
1. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
2. Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
3. Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly
4. Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
5. Accurately process payroll in a timely manner
6. Ensure all monthly reconciliations are completed (bank statement, floor plan, parts inventory, and all schedules)
7. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
8. Maintain the chart of accounts
9. Make sure personnel accurately record sales, complete title work, and timely submission of all payments, contracts, and/or drafts required to receive funding
10. Maintain adequate records for all prepaid and accruals, fixed assets, and loan/lease agreements.
11. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
12. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
13. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
14. Prepare for and oversee audits from different federal, state or local agencies.
Reporting
1. Issue complete, and accurate financial statements
2. Prepare and submit accurate reporting to State agencies

· Strong knowledge of book keeping and accounting
· Ability to effectively manage people and process
· Computer savvy and strong proficiency with Microsoft and Excel product applications knowledge and in dealership computer system applications. Our current dealership software is Lighspeed which we can provide training for.
