Position Title: Teacher K - 5
Reports to: Principal
Department: General Education
Position Category: Permanent/exempt/full-time/10 month contract
Position Summary: Provide students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that will enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. In collaboration with other faculty and administration, the Teacher will support the School's mission through curriculum development and instruction in alignment with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority
Essential Job Function:
- Design, write, and use lesson plans that conform to the charter’s curriculum, ensuring written plans are available for review
- Ensure lesson plans show modifications for differences in student learning styles
- Teach instructional subjects according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, charter polices, and administrative regulations
- Implement appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment to ensure comprehension of learning styles and student needs
- Collaborate with special education teachers on student Individual Education Plans to ensure all modifications are met
- Produce and oversee teacher aide and volunteer assignments
- Employ technology practices to strengthen the instructional process
- Prepare classroom to enhance learning and to aid in physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Control student behavior in agreement with the student handbook
- Ensure necessary and reasonable measures are taken to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Keep up to date and abide by state and charter regulations and policies for teachers
- Gather, manage, and file all reports, records, and other documents required
- Be active in faculty meetings, assist in staff committees, create and maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
- Promote TeSA in a positive manner within the school and community
- Produce formal and informal testing to evaluate student success
- Perform other duties as assigned

Environment: Work is located on campus site in a classroom environment; regular exposure to noise

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
- Valid Texas teaching certification or highly qualified designation with endorsements for subject/level assigned required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience: Ideally a minimum of three (3) years teaching at the elementary level.
- Arts background preferred
Skills and Capabilities:
- Understanding of subjects assigned
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Capable of instructing students and managing their behavior
- Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience collaborating with others to develop interdisciplinary academic products/classroom activities.
Salary : $50,000 - $615,000
