Job Description Summary / TWC Summary
Under general supervision contributes to all aspects of library management and day-to-day operations by performing clerical duties and providing customer service to library patrons. Works alone as well as part of a team with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Essential Duties Summary
- Assists in the opening of the Law Library for 7:00 A.M., which include the preliminary opening procedures as outlined in the Law Library Opening Procedures Guidelines.
- Performs circulation desk procedures, such as checking in and checking out materials, registering patrons, providing cursory reference assistance, answer directional questions, refer students to appropriate personnel, and collection maintenance (Reserve Collection).
- Routinely shelve materials – Reserve, Reference, and Classified – and engage in assigned and scheduled shelf reading activities.
- Prepares, sends, and receives Interlibrary Loan requests (ILL) as needed.
- Perform a myriad of clerical duties, such as filing, sorting, photocopying, organizing, weeding, shedding, and proctoring.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or general equivalency education with one (1) to three (3) years of experience.
Required Licensing/Certification
Valid Texas Driver’s license preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Policies, procedures, library practices.
- Requires some seasoning and experience beyond the entry level to conduct moderately complex work. Demonstrates general competence and growing knowledge and understanding of the overall function or discipline.
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
Skill in:
- Problem-solving and decision-making.
- Strong time management.
- Both verbal and written communication.
Ability to:
- Prepare detailed reports.
- Work independently.
Work Experience
One (1) to three (3) years of experience.
Working/Environmental Conditions
- Prolonged standing and/or walking.
- Handling moderate weight objects.
