The Dean of the Thomas F. Freeman Honors College at Texas Southern University (TSU) serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the Honors College. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a distinguished Honors College named after Dr. Thomas Franklin Freeman, a legendary educator and debate coach, and to make a significant impact on the lives of high-achieving students at Texas Southern University. The Dean is responsible for providing visionary leadership, fostering academic excellence, and enhancing the overall student experience. This role involves strategic planning, faculty development, student recruitment and retention, and community engagement. The Dean will report to the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Honors College that aligns with the mission and goals of TSU.
- Oversee the development and delivery of a rigorous and innovative honors curriculum that promotes critical thinking, intellectual engagement, and research opportunities.
- Recruit, mentor, and support a diverse and accomplished faculty dedicated to academic excellence and student success.
- Develop strategies to attract high-achieving students to the Honors College.
- Develop initiatives to support student well-being, academic advising, mentorship, and career development.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes the academic, personal, and professional growth of honors students.
- Implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the Honors College’s programs and initiatives.
- Lead efforts to secure external funding through grants, scholarships, donations, and partnerships to enhance the Honors College’s programs and initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with other deans, faculty, and administrative staff to promote interdisciplinary programs and initiatives.
- Manage the Honors College’s budget, resources, and operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Represent the Honors College at university events, conferences, and community engagements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, and organizations (local, national, and international) to support the Honors College’s mission and goals.
- Strengthen connections with Honors College alumni to build a robust network of support and mentorship for current students.

Hiring Range
$149,820.22 - $194,766.28
Education
A terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) from an accredited institution is required.
Required Licensing/Certification
Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.
