The guiding principle of health and safety is to plan and coordinate with personnel to achieve meaningful improvements for their safety while on the campus of Texas Southern University.
Safety Technician is responsible for inspecting equipment and machinery, as well as the safety of facilities, locating potential hazards in the workplace. This position involves working closely with employees, supervisors, and management to identify, evaluate, and eliminate safety hazards. The Safety Technician also provides safety training and conducts safety inspections.
Essential Duties Summary :
- Conduct Safety Inspections
- Chemical waste inventory and inspections
- Hazmat Storage Room
- Biological and Infectious waste
- Laboratory Inspections
- Maintain safety records and documentation.
- Inspect mechanical rooms, equipment, and operations to identify potential safety hazards.
- Provide input and assistance in the development of safety programs.
- Incident Investigation
- Fire Safety
- Life Safety Systems
- Environmental Health Safety Regulatory Compliance
FTE : Hiring Range :
24.06 - $30.67
Education :
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
Required Licensing / Certification :
40-hour HAZWOPER TrainingDOT HAZMAT Training
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Work Experience :
At least 3 years of experience in a safety role.
